I can help your new or growing venture with planning, marketing, operations, financial statement analysis and customer service, including for retail and franchise businesses.

As a chief executive officer, business owner, board director and consultant, I have helped several companies succeed. These included two start-up and two turn-around situations. My teams and I designed and implemented specific strategies for each situation, developing future leaders and entrepreneurs along the way. The challenges we overcame and the winning plans and tactics we developed are relevant to any business owner.

Over the years, I have run a number of public and private supermarket, drug store and sporting goods chains. I served on the boards of directors of six companies and consulted with several private equity firms to evaluate companies to buy or sell. For 14 years, my wife and I owned a successful franchised health and wellness business, and I still work with the franchisor as coach and mentor to their owner/operators. I am both right-brained and left-brained; the creative aspects of running a business, such as marketing and advertising, and the analytical side, such as examining financial statements to improve performance, excite me equally. My passion in business is to deliver high-quality products and superior service to my customers. I am also a strong believer that we must serve more than just our stockholders or ourselves; our businesses must also serve our clients, employees, suppliers and communities, treating all with equal respect and support.

Having started, grown and sold successful businesses, I look forward to helping SCORE clients who seek to do the same.
